The Magical TV Debut!

Hey y'all!

So, I've been so busy popping my STARRING TV role to all my buddies, and I knew I was forgetting something...of course! The Fat-o-Sphere!

This is the job about which I spoke last summer, where I was a bride. So, very little commentary, let's get to the good stuff:

(PS- If you watched "What Would You Do?" this past Tuesday night, you're already a step ahead!)

PLEASE let me know what you think!

That was awesome! All three actresses did so well :) I have to say, Tola made me weepy. I loved what she said about never calling your child ugly, and to share wedding day wisdom instead. What a cool thing to have worked on. Great job!

That was really interesting. What I found most surprising, though, was how the thin women came to the fat bride's defense before the thin bride's. That may be a tribute to your mad acting skillz, or it may be saying something about how women are set up via a patriarchal society to see all other women but especially ones who are more closely aligned with the current beauty standards as competition. They may have been more supportive to you and found you more sympathetic because you were outside the current standard, if that makes any sense.

And I now want Tola to have her own show. She was awesome. (As were you!)

Wow, you were awesome!

I was a little disappointed, though, that the comments to your "mother" seem more like "well of course she's fat but you don't tell people that, it's mean!" than "she's gorgeous, you shut up."

!!! It's Sar, from the callback and the RTBP thing. You rock this OUT. You were so terrific. You made me cry, Tola made me cry, I am sitting on my couch with tears in my eyes.

Thanks to your encouragement both times we met, I am reading up on the fatosphere way more these days, and am working on accepting me as I am. (I actually booked the RTBP shoot and am very proud to be part of something that was working to celebrate the beauty of all sorts of different bodies.)

So, please allow me to add an enormous THANK YOU to my heartfelt CONGRATULATIONS. Way to go!

I found this very heart warming. I also agree with Jamie's comments, but no matter the reason it was great to see people stick up for the chubby bride!

You guys are the best!

Kelly: Tola was fantastic, such a great mom role model!

Jamie: I know, right? I think it's a lot about the idea that skinny women ARE competition, *and* that it's usually considered a compliment when someone remarks on how skinny you are.

Rachel: <3!

Waistlines: I COMPLETELY agree! It's really good that I wasn't present for Tola's 'scene,' because I might've come a little unhinged... "What do you mean, 'Don't call her fat'?! But I *am* fat!" But I'll save my rant for the one-woman show.... *waits patiently*

Sar: YAY!! I love you! I'm SO glad that my encouragement helped you into our little (big?) sphere, and that it's fulfilling you in those ways that general society *refuses* to! I'm SO happy that you booked the RTBP shoot--please please forward me to any webpages etc. that you might be on!!

Meowser: Aw, shucks :) Thank you!

CatGal: Thank you! It was VERY encouraging, and it was a very feel-good experience to be coddled like that. When does anyone stick up for the fat girl, I ask you?!

Diana: Thank you!! Me too! :D It was $2000...*sigh*

(Um, sorry I was slow to get back to these...me = Worst ever.)

Wow! Yep, Tola was awesome. Of course the only thing that bugged me about that is that to me fat is a descriptor and not a negative, but hey, everybody's not there yet. You looked beautiful, by the way :)
